《42》是Coldplay演唱的歌曲，收录在专辑《Viva La Vida》中，歌名取自于英国的一篇著名的科幻小说《银河系漫游指南》。

42是老鼠为了探询「生命、宇宙，以及任何事情的终极答案」而设计出的超级电脑（深思）计算出的“终极答案”（这也就是为什么老鼠还要制造人类来研究生命的答案了）。它本身没有很深刻的含义，只是一种小说的表达方法，突出荒诞的特点，因为本身就没有什么“关于宇宙、自然、生命的终极答案”，要不然超级电脑也不会答不出，反而去计算什么是“终极问题”了。您若在Google输入the answer to life, the universe, and everything，Google会直接回答42——而且还是用Google计算器算出来的。
